Teacher role in the education system is imperative because the teacher alone is responsible for the growth of the students. A good teacher is someone who’s not also be able to impart knowledge to the students, but also to mentor, guide, assess, criticize, train, and provide the students access to the world. A good teacher understands his/her students and tends to their needs. Patience and virtue are the most valueable thing a teacher should possess. As Ki Hadjar Dewantara - our education system founding father - had once said, “ing ngarso sing tulodo, ing madyo mangun karso, tut wuri handayani.” which can be translated into “standing at the front to be a model, in the middle to build the will to step forward, and in the back to support.” Teacher is an occupation that needs to be attended whole-heartedly due to the immense influence that will affect the growth of the students.References
